Sirpa Oksanen has been the Ambassador of Finland to Croatia since September 2025, to the Holy See since December 2025 and to Bosnia and Herzegovina since March 2026.
Before transferring to Zagreb she served as Director of the Unit for Eastern Europe from 2020-2025. The Unit’s responsibilities included e.g. matters concerning Ukraine. Until 2024, the Unit also covered Central Asia. Prior to her post as Director of the Unit for Eastern Europe, Oksanen served as the Coordinator of the Government Report on Finnish Foreign and Security Policy at the Political Department.
Oksanen has served as Deputy Head of Mission at Finland’s embassies in The Hague and Ljubljana in 2015-2018 and in 2013-2015, respectively. She has also worked at the Embassy of Finland in Moscow.
Oksanen holds the degree of Master of Social Sciences. She joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2002. She is married with four children.
